How do we find or keep peace in the midst of the uncertainty facing us in the world? Politics, the pandemic, social dissension — all of this can throw us into a maelstrom of worry and anxiety for the future. Instead, consider these ideas for how to cope when you are feeling tired and overwhelmed.
Connect with Nature
Go out to the woods, to the shore, to a lake, even if only in your mind or by contemplating a beautiful photograph or piece of art. Then, be still. Breathe in and out. Listen for God’s quiet voice in the depths of your heart. He loves you. He has everything in His hands. We don’t often get to see His plans, but trust Him.

Spiritual Reading
While you meditate, read from the Gospels or the Psalms. You can find some of that peace there or in other spiritual reading. My book contains spiritual reflections and resources for those who wish to go deeper. A few words or a phrase, even from an uplifting piece of music or a song may inspire your personal reflection.

Prayer
Also, remember you are loved. God’s love and strength are there for us, to sustain us in difficult times. His plans may differ from ours, but they are always for our good. Surrender your cares and worries to Him and offer them for others and the whole world.

If you’d like me to pray for your intentions, please message me here. I’m praying for Afghanistan, for peace in our society and world, and that you and others will find and grow in your relationship with God. In Him and with Him, all things are possible including finding peace in the midst of uncertainty.
